Trade Classes
The California-Nevada J.A.T.C. offers a variety of continuing education classes for our members. These currently include OSHA 10 ET&D, EICA Crane Certification, and CPR/First Aid. See class specifics below.
Classes are offered to apprentice lineman, journeyman lineman, operators and groundmen working for I.B.E.W. Local 47, 396 and 1245 signatory contractors under the Outside Line Agreement.

To receive the class certificate or certification, you will be required to attend the entire class.
There are only a certain number of spaces available for each class.
To register for a class, you will need your union ticket number.
There is no fee for classes taken. Class availability is based on a first-come, first-serve basis.
EICA Crane Certification
The California-Nevada J.A.T.C. will be offering the following crane certifying courses and written tests.
The Electrical Industry Certifications Association (EICA) process is made up into two parts, a written test and a practical test.
This EICA class will not teach you how to operate a crane.
It is only to prepare you for the EICA written and practical test to obtain certification.
The class is 3 days of interactive lecture with a large amount of self study on OSHA and ASME standards.
The written test is given on the 4th day by an independent proctor.

There are a limited number of spaces available for each crane class and all training and *test costs are paid by the
California-Nevada J.A.T.C.
Class availability is based on first come first serve basis. You are NOT registered in the class until your
spot is confirmed by our office.
Any individuals signing up for class should have prior operating experience.
Class is not offered to groundmen or other like classifications.
The class is offered to apprentice lineman, journeyman lineman and operators working for
I.B.E.W. Local 47, 396 and 1245 signatory contractors under the Outside Line Agreement.
Please note: The class is offered only to those members who are currently working out of
or is a member of I.B.E.W. Local 47, 396 and 1245.
Priority is given to members of I.B.E.W. Local 47, 396 and 1245.

Re-certification:
EICA Crane and Digger Derrick certifications are valid for a period of (5) years.
EICA certified operators applying for re-certification must satisfy all requirements prior to their
current EICA certification(s) expiring. Please see EICA (eica-us.org) website for further information and requirements.
EICA certificate holders will be notified via Safety Wallet prior to their certification expiration date.
If certifications expire and candidates need to re-certify, all testing fees will be at the expense of the candidate.
OSHA 10 ET&D
OSHA Classes are offered to apprentice lineman, journeyman lineman, operators and groundmen working for I.B.E.W. Local 47, 396 and 1245 signatory contractors under the Outside Line and So Cal Outside Utility Infrastructure Agreements.
Classes are available at both our Riverside and Woodland Facilities. Please see the schedule for details on the dates for each location.
The class is 2 days. You must attend both days to receive a completion card.

First Aid/CPR Training
The classes are offered every second Friday of the month at both our Riverside and Woodland locations. These classes are for new certificates and recertification. Each class is 4 hours long, with CPR in the morning and First Aid in the afternoon. You can sign up for just one, or for both classes.
Each class is 4 hours long. You must attend the entire 4 hours to receive a completion card for that class.
