Welcome to the updated and improved website experience for the California-Nevada JATC. This change is one of many improvements as the JATC continues to modernize and apply new technology available across all aspects of operations. Some of the changes to the site include improved navigation, enhanced formatting for a better viewing experience on a mobile device, updated information on the available apprenticeships and training opportunities, a new Contractor’s Portal along with links to the existing Web Services (TradeSchool) and the new QuickBase Platform. As the site is further developed and additional improvements are made over the next several months, you are encouraged and welcome to return to see the growth and improvements our site has to offer.

What has not changed is the overall mission and goal of the California-Nevada JATC which is to provide the best training experience for apprentices and the industry through the use of available technologies and skilled instructors as we continue to support the growing industry.

This specific section of the website will be live and updated regularly with information for apprentices, applicants, and the general public. Important announcements and current information will be available here for apprentices and applicants.

Who Are We?

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee of the California-Nevada Line Construction Industry (California-Nevada JATC) is a non-profit association designed to systematically train unionized workers for the outside electrical construction industry.

The main focus of the California-Nevada JATC is to keep the outside electrical industry within our two states with an adequate number of highly skilled journey level workers. We do this by offering two different apprenticeship programs: Outside Electrical Lineman Apprenticeship and Substation Technician Apprenticeship.

Train for this work with the California-Nevada JATC, and go from a new apprentice to a journeyman lineman in fewer than four years. With more than 500 line contractors in the organized electrical construction industry, you can be assured of meaningful, lifelong work – with opportunities for advancement.

Power Lineman

As a journeyman lineman you’ll build, maintain and repair the power lines that carry electricity to homes and businesses. When you apply for the California-Nevada Outside Lineman Program you’ll be taking the first step to a career that not only has a tremendous impact on the people you serve, but one that will have a positive impact on your future as well.

Substation Technician

As a journeyman Substation Technician you will build, maintain, operate, and repair electrical power substations, switchyards, and associated systems.

When you apply for the California-Nevada Substation Technician Program you’ll be taking the first step to a career that not only has a tremendous impact on the people you serve, but one that will have a positive impact on your future as well.

Governance

The California-Nevada JATC is governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board is made up of six (6) members; three (3) to represent the Western Line Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), and three (3) members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
